What You Need to Know About the BRIDGE Project

The BRIDGE Project is a five-year initiative that commenced in 2022, implemented by YIDO in strong partnership with War Child Canada. The project is currently being delivered across three Accelerated Education Program (AEP) centres: Bwiizi Seed Secondary School, Ntenungi Secondary School, and Rwamwanja Secondary School.

This collaborative initiative is designed to support learners who have lost valuable school time due to conflicts in their home countries as well as disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the combined expertise and shared commitment of YIDO and War Child Canada, the project seeks to restore hope and expand access to quality education for both refugee and host community youth in Uganda.

The BRIDGE Project uniquely integrates secondary education with practical skills development, creating clear and sustainable pathways to employment and self-reliance. Through a compressed two-year accelerated curriculum, learners are supported to resume and complete lower secondary education, enabling them to catch up academically and transition confidently into the next phase of their education.

Upon completion of lower secondary education, beneficiaries are further supported through scholarships under the Mastercard Foundation program, providing opportunities to pursue A-Level studies, vocational training, or university education.

Through this strategic partnership, the BRIDGE Project continues to empower young people with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to build brighter and more resilient futures.
